Project Goals

69 Williams Street is one phase of the larger Doyle’s Café Project to preserve the longstanding Doyle’s Café on Washington Street in Jamaica Plain, and develop new residential, commercial, and parking spaces on the site. Overall, the Doyle’s Café Project will reopen the Doyle’s Café space, which closed in 2019, as well as create a new grocery store at the street level. In addition, a total of 23 residential units will be created: 16 units above the commercial spaces, 7 more units at 60 Williams Street, and 6 units at 69 Williams Street. 69 Williams Street will consist of 6 income-restricted units, split evenly between 80% of AMI and 100% of AMI, with a total of two 2-BR units, two 3-BR units, and two 4-BR units.

Note that MOH funds were only awarded to ONE unit ( a three-bedroom unit restricted at 80% of AMI).

This award was made in order to make the sixth unit financially feasible; in the original designs by Watermark, 69 Williams Street had 5 total homeownership units, but as a result of the community review process, it was agreed that the site could and should accommodate six units. There will be six parking spaces for the residents of 69 Williams Street.
